UAB CIS students win awards at ACM MidSoutheast Conference

At the 2007 ACM MidSoutheast conference November 15-16, our department was represented by four students:

• Richa Tiwari (PhD category)
• Hua Zhong and Amelia Hale (Masters category)
• Amos Smith (Undergraduate category)

All of the students did a great job of presenting their research. Two of our students were honored with awards:

• 1st Place, Undergraduate: Amos Smith
• 2nd Place, Masters: Hua Zhong

This makes the fifth year in a row that one of our undergraduate students placed in the top-3. This year, there were 41 students participating from 7 different states.
